Arsenal have confirmed the long-awaited capture of Sweden international striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth a reported £66.3m.
The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium, where he becomes the club's sixth new arrival of the summer after Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard.
Gyokeres has been bestowed with the iconic number 14 shirt in North London, thus following in the footsteps of the club's all-time top scorer Thierry Henry, and he will immediately fly out to Asia to meet his new teammates.
Gyokeres could therefore make his debut for Mikel Arteta's side against Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong next Thursday, prior to which he will observe Sunday's friendly with Newcastle United from afar.
Speaking to arsenal.com for the first time since his arrival was confirmed, the former Brighton & Hove Albion man admitted that the Gunners did not have to sell themselves to him during negotiations, as he was reportedly only pining for a move to North London.

"It was more about things around me and what they were thinking," Gyokeres said. "But I know the club, I've watched it before so they didn't have to sell it in for me. I was already excited to come here.
"To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can't wait. It will be an amazing feeling.
“I started here [in England], it feels like a long time ago. I think I've improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team."
Head coach Arteta - who had remained coy on Gyokeres's arrival when asked earlier this week - added: "We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyokeres to the club. The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves.
"Viktor has so many qualities. He is a quick and powerful presence up front, with incredible goalscoring numbers at club and international levels.
"He brings a clinical edge with a high conversion rate of chances into goals, with his intelligent movement in the box making him a constant threat. We’re excited about what Viktor brings to our squad and are looking forward to start working with him. We welcome Viktor and his family to Arsenal."
'Actual' Gyokeres fee revealed as Arsenal confirm signing
Initially, Arsenal were believed to have struck an agreement to sign Gyokeres for an initial fee of €63.5m (£55.5m), potentially rising to €73.5m (£64.2m) in performance-related add-ons.
However, as per Ben Jacobs, Sporting have revealed that the fixed fee comes in slightly higher at €65.7m (£57.4m), and the total amount could reach €75.9m (£66.3m) if all bonuses are hit.
The difference in fixed fees is supposedly due to taxes on top of the £55.5m amount, but regardless, Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has affirmed that the club have concluded an "excellent" deal for a prolific marksman.
Gyokeres leaves Sporting having accrued a staggering 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese giants, finding the back of the net 54 times in 52 matches during the 2024-25 campaign.
