Arsenal are reportedly planning to bring a new striker to the club in January or the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal are reportedly set to prioritise the signing of a new striker in the winter and summer transfer windows.

The Gunners have supposedly decided against offering Alexandre Lacazette a new contract, with the 30-year-old now set to walk away on a free when his deal expires in 2022.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also only under contract at Arsenal until 2023, while the futures of Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun are both unclear.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano now expects the Gunners to bolster their forward line in 2022, telling The Arsenal Lounge: "From what I'm told the priority for Arsenal, in (the) last days of the summer window and in January or next summer if it won't be January is a striker.

"They want to sign an important striker, they know they need an important striker so the mission is to get one. They were trying for Lautaro Martinez in the summer but it was really complicated to sign him, almost impossible.

"Then they were trying for Tammy Abraham, who was another option but then he joined Roma. They always wanted this kind of striker and they are working on this.

"I expect Arsenal to sign a new striker but I don't know if they will be able to do it in January because the January transfer window is never easy."

The Gunners have been tipped to move for Zenit St Petersburg forward Sardar Azmoun, although the Iranian's agent has all but ruled out the prospect of his client moving to North London.
