Arsene Wenger: 'We don't want David Beckham

Arsenal not in for Beckham

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that the club will not try to sign free agent David Beckham.

The 37-year-old, who left Los Angeles Galaxy in December, will begin training with the Gunners this week in a bid to keep up his fitness following his return to England.

"There's no speculation about signing or anything," Wenger said in a press conference. "I believe that he has come here purely for fitness purposes."

Beckham, who has had stints at Real Madrid and AC Milan, is expected to make a final decision on his future this week.
