Lille defender Gabriel reportedly emerges as a potential transfer target for Arsenal ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Lille defender Gabriel as a potential arrival during the January transfer window.

After the arrival of new boss Mikel Arteta, Arsenal are now putting together a plan of action ahead of possibly signing new players at the beginning of 2020.

Should they choose to be active in the market, a new centre-back is likely to be on their radar, despite Arteta having plenty of options at his disposal.

According to The Athletic, the North London outfit are admirers of Gabriel, who has impressed in France over the past 12 months.

The 22-year-old has made a total of 39 appearances in all competitions, which includes outings in the Champions League double-header with Chelsea this season.

Gabriel has just 18 months remaining on his contract - something which could potentially play into Arsenal's favour.
