Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Everton

Arsenal injury, suspension list vs. Everton

Arsenal welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to move ahead of their next opponents in the Premier League standings.

Although both clubs have put together unbeaten runs of late, the visitors have managed to establish a two-point advantage over the Gunners in ninth position.

While Everton can move as high as seventh place, Mikel Arteta is hoping that his team can progress into eighth spot by the end of the weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of squaring off against the Merseyside outfit.

Calum Chambers

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Chambers will not feature again this season after suffering a knee ligament injury which is expected to keep him out until the start of next season.

Kieran Tierney

Status: Out Type of injury: Shoulder Possible return date: March 14 (vs. Brighton & Hove Albion)

Tierney has been sidelined since the start of December after dislocating his shoulder. However, the full-back is making good progress, putting himself in contention for a return next month.

Cedric Soares

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: March 7 (vs. West Ham United)

Soares is currently closing in on a return to training after arriving at Arsenal with a knee injury. While Arteta expects the Portuguese to step up his recovery in the coming days, the right-back will not play a competitive game until next month.

Lucas Torreira

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: February 23 (vs. Everton)

Torreira had been expected to start against Olympiacos on Thursday night before missing out through illness. However, the midfielder could return to the squad at the weekend.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: March 2 (vs. Portsmouth)

During the closing stages in Greece, Sokratis was forced to hobble off the pitch, with Arteta later revealing that the centre-back had twisted his knee. Although no further details have been provided, the player will not feature against the Toffees.
