Jack Wilshere proves reports wrong by starting for Arsenal against Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

Jack Wilshere has been named in the Arsenal starting lineup for this evening's Premier League encounter against Everton at the Emirates Stadium.

Reports had suggested that he may be rested to protect him from aggravating a recent ankle problem, but manager Arsene Wenger has opted to hand the England international a role in the midfield that also includes Aaron Ramsey and former Everton player Mikel Arteta.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has returned between the posts following a stint on the bench.

Meanwhile, visiting Everton have Steven Pienaar available again after suspension, with teenager Ross Barkley also given a start.

Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Arteta, Ramsey, Wilshere, Cazorla, Walcott; Giroud

Everton: Howard; Baines, Jagielka, Distin, Coleman; Gibson Barkley, Pienaar, Fellaini; Mirallas, Anichebe
