Arsenal ease to victory in Jakarta

Arsenal have thrashed an Indonesia XI 7-0 in Jakarta in the opening fixture of their pre-season tour of Asia.

Theo Walcott opened the scoring on 19 minutes when he drilled the ball low into the net following some good work from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Their lead was doubled 10 minutes after the break when youngster Chuba Akpom tapped in from Serge Gnabry's cross.

Olivier Giroud came off the bench midway through the second half and scored almost instantly with a chipped finish.

The Frenchman found the net again moments later with a powerful finish on the turn in the penalty area.

Arsenal added a fifth on 83 minutes when Lukas Podolski smashed the ball into the bottom corner, while Kristoffer Olsson got in on the act two minutes later.

The rout was completed in the 86th minute as Thomas Eisfeld fired home off the underside of the crossbar.
