Jack Wilshere confident of Premier League title bid

Jack Wilshere says that Arsenal will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season following their second FA Cup triumph in as many years.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has insisted that the Gunners are capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

The North Londoners retained the FA Cup on Saturday as they beat Aston Villa 4-0 at Wembley.

Arsenal finished third in the league this season and Wilshere says that Arsene Wenger's squad can continue their improvement through the next campaign.

"We have made a big step mentally," Wilshere told BT Sport. "I remember in previous years going to big games, Man United, City, Chelsea, thinking 'have we really got a chance today?' But this year, from the first big game, Man City at home, we did well and then we won at their place.

"Even United away we got a point. That is a big step that we needed to do, so next year we feel like we are in a better position.

"The big one for us is the Premier League. We have progressed this year, have finished third and got automatic Champions League qualification. Next year we feel that can really push Chelsea, City and United for the title."

Arsenal ended the season 12 points behind champions Chelsea.
