Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger criticises the flamboyant spending of clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, labelling their transfer dealings as "crazy".

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has criticised modern big-spending football clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain, labelling the nature of their transfer business as "crazy".

The Gunners boss has always had a frugal approach in the transfer market and Arsenal are seen as one of Europe's top clubs who do have stable finances.

Wenger cited PSG's splashing out on Brazilian teenager Lucas Moura from earlier this summer when speaking of "crazy" spending in the game.

"In the end, football suffers. Look at what happened in the transfer market this summer. PSG are ambitious, they have resources, there you go," the Frenchman told the Daily Mail.

"When someone pays £36m for a boy of 19 you have to say football has become crazy."

The 62-year-old added that he hopes UEFA's new financial fair play rules will mean that clubs compete in the market more fairly.
