Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger criticises Jack Wilshere for smoking in public

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that he will speak to midfielder Jack Wilshere after he was photographed smoking outside of a nightclub.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he will have words with midfielder Jack Wilshere after he was spotted smoking outside of a nightclub on Friday night.

The photograph of the England international puffing on a cigarette was published by a national newspaper, prompting Wenger to stress the importance of being a good example as a footballer.

"I disagree completely with that behaviour," the Daily Mail quotes Wenger as saying. "I need to have a chat with him about that. You don't do what damages your health as a footballer. You damage your reputation when you do that in public."

When asked if any disciplinary action will be taken against Wilshere, Wenger said: "I don't know what happened so I can't talk about any punishment."

Despite the off-field incident, Wenger has insisted that Wilshere is very much part of the Frenchman's future plans.

The photo in question has been posted on Twitter from various outlets. Take a look at Wilshere smoking below:
