Emile Smith Rowe's first England call-up is a "dream come true" for the Arsenal midfielder following his promotion from the Under-21s.

Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has described his call-up to the England senior team as a "dream come true".

The 21-year-old was initially left out of Gareth Southgate's squad before being called up following Marcus Rashford and James Ward-Prowse's withdrawal.

Smith Rowe's inclusion comes after he netted for the third Premier League game in a row against Watford, and the youngster has now reflected on the moment he learned of his maiden call-up.

Speaking to reporters at his first England press conference, Smith Rowe said: "It's definitely a dream come true, I didn't expect it.

"I was planning to go to the Under-21s and then I got a phone call the day before from Gareth saying that I've been called up to the first team. It was a great moment for me and my family."

Smith Rowe will be eyeing his debut for the Three Lions against either Albania or San Marino in World Cup 2022 Qualifying, with Southgate's side facing the former at Wembley on Friday.
