Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez: "We lack a certain hunger"

Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez admits that his team "lack a certain hunger" needed to win trophies after suffering three successive defeats in all competitions.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has claimed that his team "lack a certain hunger" needed to win trophies.

Arsene Wenger's side have fallen six points behind Premier League leaders Leicester City following back-to-back defeats - including a shock 2-1 reverse at home to Swansea City on Wednesday night.

The team's character has been called into question in recent weeks and Sanchez has admitted that the Gunners "lack self-belief", which could cost them the chance to lift the title this season.

"I think we can win the Premier League with the players we have. That said, we lack a certain hunger. We need to step out onto the pitch as if we're already 1-0 up," Sanchez told Directv Sports.

"We lack self-belief, that we can actually be champions. I remember a game against Manchester United last year. The lads looked hungry for silverware as we took to the pitch. We crushed them in the first 20 minutes and went 2-0 up. We were hungry and brimming with confidence that day."

Arsenal will travel to second-placed Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend looking to avoid a fourth successive defeat in all competitions.
