Aaron Ramsey receives Arsene Wenger praise

Arsene Wenger admits to being impressed by Aaron Ramsey's holding performances in the Arsenal midfield of late.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed the way that Aaron Ramsey has adapted to his new position within the team.

Welsh international Ramsey was signed from Cardiff City in 2008 with a repuatation as a creative midfielder.

However, over the last couple of weeks, the 22-year-old has impressed Wenger when asked to feature in a more reserved role in the midfield.

"Aaron Ramsey's form in the deep midfield position has been a bright spot in the last two games. He has a fantastic engine and great qualities, and is an intelligent player who understands football well," Wenger wrote in Arsenal's matchday programme.

"If he continues to develop he has the potential to be an outstanding player for us. He takes things on board and tries to do what you ask him. In the last two matches I think we've seen a really positive transformation in his game."

Ramsey has made 21 Premier League appearances this season.
