Mesut Ozil: 'I struggled with physicality of Premier League'

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil admits that he 'struggled' to cope with physicality of the Premier League at first, but believes that he is now playing at his best.

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has admitted that he 'struggled' with the physicality of the Premier League when he arrived at the Emirates in the summer of 2013.

The 26-year-old faced plenty of criticism when he failed to make a significant impact after joining the Gunners from Real Madrid.

This season, Ozil has admitted that he was "exhausted" in the early stages of the campaign due to his triumph at the World Cup with Germany.

However, the midfielder is now finding form as Arsenal look to make the FA Cup final for the second year in a row when they take on Reading at Wembley tomorrow.

"At the moment I am pleased with the consistency of my game," Ozil told Sport Magazine. "I feel I am now playing my best football since joining Arsenal.

"I was exhausted at the start of the season. I started playing professional football at the age of 16 and had never really suffered many serious injuries.

"I guess 10 years of consistently playing football took its toll. I was also struggling with the physicality of this league."

Arsenal are currently second in the league, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
