Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seeks Arsenal response

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain calls on Arsenal to respond positively to Saturday's 5-1 hammering at Liverpool in the Premier League.

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has called on the team to respond positively to Saturday's 5-1 hammering at Liverpool.

The Gunners suffered a setback in the Premier League title race with a comprehensive defeat at Anfield.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain now wants his teammates to fight back when they host Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

"We are very disappointed, especially with the first half," he told the club's official website. "We know we are better than that. So in that sense we are gutted.

"But these things happen in football and it is our responsibility to turn that around and we have great opportunity on Wednesday night.

"In the second half we knew we had to improve and I believe that we did that. So there are some mental positives today but we have to put it right on Wednesday."

Saturday's defeat saw Arsenal slip down to second place in the table, one point behind new leaders Chelsea.
