Everton manager David Moyes felt that luck was against his side during their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Goodison Park.

Everton boss David Moyes was left bemoaning his side's bad fortune after their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Goodison Park tonight.

Thomas Vermaelen's eighth-minute strike was enough for the Gunners to claim victory, and Moyes feels that his side were on the wrong end of some poor refereeing decisions.

On-loan midfielder Rosyton Drenthe had what appeared to be a goal ruled out for offside and Moyes believes this bad luck was a factor in their loss.

"I've got no problem, the boys are doing really well. We're sticking at it. They were really unlucky tonight not to get something from a tight game," he said.

"Apart from the first 20 minutes or so we did really well. I thought we matched Arsenal all the way. We made it tough for them.

"In the end we got a little bit of a hard deal. Too many decisions went against us as they did in the last game or two so we have to just take it and hope it will change."

Moyes recently celebrated 10 years in charge at Everton after leaving Preston North End to succeed Walter Smith in 2002.
