Lehmann poised for Arsenal return

Jens Lehmann has been offered a temporary coaching role at Arsenal as part of the work experience he requires to earn his UEFA Pro Licence.

The 42-year-old former Germany goalkeeper, who played for the Gunners between 2003 and 2008 and again briefly in 2011, is awaiting permission from Europe's football governing body to enrol on a course with the Welsh FA, after the idea was objected to by the German Federation.

If UEFA grant him permission, Lehmann will begin a year-long course in April and Arsenal Wenger has promised his former player that he can help coach Arsenal's reserves to gain experience, according to the Daily Mail.

Lehmann made 61 caps for Germany during a 23-year professional career.
