Arsenal's Kieran Gibbs "disappointed" by failure to overtake Manchester City

Kieran Gibbs admits that he and his Arsenal teammates are "disappointed" not to have overtaken Manchester City to top spot in the Premier League table.

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has admitted that he and his teammates feel "disappointed" not to have overtaken Manchester City to move to the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners would have led the standings had they beaten North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as City had earlier failed to strike in a goalless draw against Aston Villa.

As it happened, Arsenal could only earn a 1-1 draw at the Emirates after Gibbs scored in the second half, in response to Harry Kane's 32nd-minute strike.

"We are disappointed obviously, with Manchester City dropping points we had a good opportunity," Gibbs told reporters.

"It was important not to lose this game but now the international break, we can recover for a few players and they can come back fit and we can push on after."

Arsenal remain second in the table, on level points with City.
