FA to approach Wenger over England job?

The FA will reportedly make a fresh approach to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about taking over the England job next summer.

Gareth Southgate has agreed to take interim charge of the Three Lions for their next four games following the dismissal of Sam Allardyce from the post after he became implicated in a media sting.

The FA is thought to have approached the Frenchman in the summer following Roy Hodgson's departure but was turned down after Wenger outlined his desire to see out his contract, which expires at the end of this season.

According to The Telegraph, The FA will now go back to Wenger with an offer to take the reins of the national side next summer, although Gunners owner Stan Kroenke is keen to tie him down to a new contract.

After the four games that Southgate has agreed to take charge of, there is just one more World Cup qualifier - against Lithuania on March 26 - to come before the end of the season.

Steve Bruce, Alan Pardew and Eddie Howe have also emerged as contenders for the role.
