Chamakh not suffering from malaria

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh has not been struck down with malaria, and was instead unable to report for Morocco international duty due to a virus.

The striker has not featured for Arsenal this season but he was handed a call-up to the national squad for the first time since January.

However, the 28-year-old was unable to make the trip and instead remained in England for treatment.

Chamakh has scored 12 goals in 63 appearances for Arsenal since he joined the club in 2010.
