Joey Barton "happy" at Queens Park Rangers after Arsenal snub

Barton: ‘QPR was the right move for me’

Joey Barton has admitted that he is “happy” at Queens Park Rangers despite considering a move to Arsenal.

The former Newcastle midfielder revealed yesterday that he had been weighing up a move to the Gunners. However, the confrontation with Gervinho in the Magpies' opening match of the season prevented further consideration of a switch.

Despite meetings with Arsene Wenger, the 29-year-old believes that he made the right decision to join Neil Warnock’s side over the Champions League club.

"I feel I made the right move for me, am very happy at QPR and wish Arsenal, the best of luck,” Barton said on his Twitter page. “Everything happens for a reason, I believe.”

The midfielder will captain Rangers when they take on Aston Villa at Loftus Road on Sunday.
