Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta 'ready to accept Arsenal job'

Arteta 'ready to accept Arsenal job'

Mikel Arteta is reportedly prepared to leave Manchester City in order to become the new manager of Arsenal.

Two-and-a-half weeks have passed since the Gunners opted to part ways with Unai Emery, with Freddie Ljungberg taking charge of five matches on an interim basis.

The Swede's extended period in the dugout has allegedly been due to a number of candidates remaining uncertain about moving to the Emirates Stadium during the middle of the season.

However, after talks were said to have taken place on Sunday night, The Mirror claims that City assistant Arteta is ready to accept an offer to return to the North London outfit, where he ended his playing career in 2016.

While the Spaniard has been regarded as a potential future replacement for Pep Guardiola, it is suggested that he is ready to make the transition into a top job at this stage of his career.

The development comes after City requested that Arteta make a decision regarding his next move as soon as possible.
