Arsenal and Liverpool confirm that they will be taking part in the Dubai Super Cup with Lyon and AC Milan during the World Cup break in December.

Arsenal and Liverpool will both be jetting off to compete in the Dubai Super Cup during the World Cup break.

The two Premier League sides are set for warm-weather training camps with players who are not competing in Qatar, with AC Milan and Lyon also taking part in the four-team tournament at the Al Maktoum Stadium.

All four teams will play two games in the tournament, and Arsenal are set to tackle Lyon on December 8 before clashing with Italian champions AC Milan five days later on December 13.

The two English clubs will not compete against one another in the tournament, as Liverpool meet Lyon on December 11 before also locking horns with AC Milan on December 16.

A standard three points will be awarded to the winner of each match, while draws will count for two points, and a penalty shootout is also set to take place after every game.

There will be another one point on offer for the victor of the penalty shootout, and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has talked up the importance of his young squad testing themselves against high-calibre opposition.

"We're looking forward to spending time together on the training pitch in a warmer climate. It'll be a nice change of environment and a great opportunity for us to work hard and prepare for the second half of the season," Arteta told arsenal.com.

"Dubai is a fantastic place and the football facilities there are first-class. The Dubai Super Cup also gives us the opportunity to test ourselves against two strong sides in Lyon and AC Milan – it'll be a great experience for the squad."

A total of nine Arsenal players will be in action for their countries at the World Cup, while Fabio Vieira, Kieran Tierney, Martin Odegaard and Mohamed Elneny will take part in friendlies for their national teams later this month.

As well as the aforementioned quartet, the likes of Rob Holding, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Gabriel Magalhaes and Reiss Nelson should all be in action in Dubai, where the Gunners will also reunite with former captain Alexandre Lacazette following his return to Lyon.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed that they will spend a total of 12 days training in the United Arab Emirates, and World Cup representatives will join once their tournament comes to an end.

Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate are the seven Reds players competing in Qatar, while Caoimhin Kelleher, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah will take part in friendlies for their nations.

The Dubai Super Cup will also give Liverpool the chance to reunite with one of their former centre-forwards in Divock Origi, who was left out of Belgium's World Cup squad.
