Unai Emery not interested in Danny Welbeck future

Arsenal manager Unai Emery insists that he is not concerned about the futures of Danny Welbeck and Aaron Ramsey, and is instead focused on the team.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has refused to comment on the future of Danny Welbeck following the striker's two-goal show against Brentford in the third round of the EFL Cup this evening.

Welbeck netted twice in the first half to put the Gunners in control at the Emirates Stadium, before a late Alexandre Lacazette strike rounded off a 3-1 win over the Championship outfit.

The 27-year-old is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal - along with Aaron Ramsey - but Emery insists that he is fully focused on matters on the field rather than the contract negotiations of his players.

"My focus is the team. I know they are in the last year of their contracts and they are speaking with the club but for me the focus is only on the performance in each match. The performance and the commitment of the players is very high, with Aaron and Danny Welbeck. The situation is for the club and for them," Emery is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"But I am very happy with Danny Welbeck. He gives us quality and commitment every day. When he's playing with a performance like today he's helping the team and it gives us more [choices for the first 11] in the next matches. We are happy. Today was a good match and a good 90 minutes to continue working on our tactical things and it was also good for the confidence of the players.

"The result is very important for us and all the things that happened are good for continuing our improvement and helping the players with their performances. Each match is very important for any player to show us and every supporter their performance and tonight was good from every player."

Welbeck's goals saw him become the first Premier League player to score in three different club tournaments this season, having already netted in the league and the Europa League.
