Wenger: 'Giroud not guaranteed to start'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said that Olivier Giroud is not guaranteed to start for the club upon his return from injury.

The 28-year-old has not played for the Gunners since having surgery on a broken tibia in August, but he has recently made a return to training.

Danny Welbeck's form since his arrival at the club poses further question marks over Giroud's position in the team, and Wenger admits that the Frenchman is far from certain of a starting berth.

"There are no indisputable players at a big club," Wenger told beIN Sports. "There are only players that are in form who play.

"Giroud is a player who is considered as a potential starting XI player, but he is like Welbeck, he is like [Alexis] Sanchez. They need to be in form."

Giroud has scored 41 goals for Arsenal since joining the club in June 2012.
