Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez plays down injury fears

Alexis Sanchez plays down injury fears by claiming that he will be fit to play for Chile against Uruguay on Tuesday, despite suffering a muscle tear.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has played down injury concerns by claiming that he will be available to play for Chile next week, despite tearing a muscle.

The 27-year-old suffered the injury while training with the national team earlier this week, but the extent of the problem has not been revealed.

There were conflicting reports about the severity of the injury, but the man himself has told El Mercurio: "It is hurting a bit but I'm fine. I'll be back for Tuesday."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is likely to be keeping a close eye on the attacker, who has scored eight goals and produced six assists for the Premier League club since the season began in August.

A spell on the sidelines for Sanchez could damage the Gunners' positive form as they have a league clash against Manchester United and a Champions League group match with Paris Saint-Germain scheduled after the international break.

Chile will face Uruguay on Tuesday in a World Cup qualifier.
