Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Arsenal injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Arsenal will be looking to bounce back from their North London derby defeat to Tottenham Hotspur when they welcome champions Liverpool to the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Mikel Arteta's side saw their European hopes take a significant blow as their five-match unbeaten streak came to an end at the home of their fiercest rivals, squandering a 1-0 lead to lose at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners now host a Liverpool side that need victories in all of their remaining games to break the all-time points record for the English top flight, having already wrapped up the title in record time.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Liverpool's visit.

Mesut Ozil

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Back Possible return date: July 15 (vs. Liverpool)

Mesut Ozil has not featured since lockdown, most recently missing out due to a minor back injury which has kept him sidelined for longer than initially expected. The playmaker could be back in contention for this one, though.

Gabriel Martinelli

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Gabriel Martinelli will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on a knee injury last month.

Bernd Leno

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Another sidelined due to a knee injury, Bernd Leno is not expected to feature again before the end of the season despite his ligament problem being less serious than first feared.

Pablo Mari

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: Unknown

Pablo Mari was forced off in the first half of Arsenal's first game back after lockdown and will not return to training until September at the earliest having picked up a "significant" ankle injury.

Calum Chambers

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Calum Chambers ruptured his ACL in Arsenal's final game of 2019 and will miss the remainder of this season, as well as being touch and go to return in time for the start of 2020-21.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Eddie Nketiah

Return date: July 21 (vs. Aston Villa)

Eddie Nketiah was shown a straight red card moments after coming on against Leicester City and serves the second of his three-match ban in this game.
