Brendan Rodgers "bitterly disappointed" with Howard Webb

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says that he is "bitterly disappointed" his side didn't receive a second penalty against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he is "bitterly disappointed" to see his side's claim for a penalty waved away as they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The Reds were given a second half spot-kick when Luis Suarez was clipped by Lukas Podolski but saw their appeals for a second turned down by Howard Webb despite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's clumsy tackle on the Uruguayan.

Speaking to BT Sport, after the game, Rodgers said that he felt it was "blatant penalty", and he once again reiterated his stance to assembled media.

Rodgers said: "Was the second one a penalty? Yes, absolutely. I think the first one, Luis gets clipped and it's a clear penalty.

"I thought the second one was even clearer. We're bitterly disappointed to have not got that because then it would have kept our momentum going for the final stages of the game, in which I thought we were on top.

"We're a team that is really aggressive in our attack and we provoke a lot of challenges because of the aggression in our offensive game. Especially Luis - he's always in and around the box, he's always asking questions of defenders. He's got one penalty but should have had two today."

Arsenal will meet Everton in the quarter-final draw.
