Monday's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup: Houssem Aouar, Jorginho, Thomas Partey

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Monday, October 5.

Transfer deadline day is here, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible last-minute reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected last summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Monday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Arsenal have reportedly missed out on Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar but will attempt to sign Chelsea's Jorginho before the end of the transfer window.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with Aouar over the last few weeks, but the Premier League club are allegedly now unlikely to sign the Frenchman.

According to French journalist Julien Laurens, Mikel Arteta's side will be unable to bring the Lyon midfielder to the Emirates Stadium before Monday's transfer deadline.

However, Laurens claims that the London outfit are looking to secure a deal for Jorginho.

The 28-year-old has made an impressive start to the season for Chelsea, scoring three times in four appearances, including a brace against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Italy international could allegedly be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge in the latter stages of the window, though, and Arsenal are said to be attempting to secure his signature.

Chelsea eye Arsenal target Thomas Partey as Declan Rice alternative?

Chelsea have reportedly identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey as a possible alternative to Declan Rice.

The Blues are understood to be willing to do one more deal in their big-spending summer and regard West Ham United's Rice as their top target.

However, the Hammers are demanding more than £80m for the England international, forcing Chelsea to consider other options.

The Guardian reports that Thomas is one of the names on their shortlist, despite heavy speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are keen to sign either Thomas or Houssem Aouar before Monday's deadline, but have so far been unable to agree a fee for either midfielder.

Thomas is available for £45m due to a release clause in his contract, making him a cheaper option for Chelsea than Rice.
