Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira in Spain to complete Atletico Madrid move?

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has reportedly edged closer to signing for Atletico Madrid.

Having fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, Torreira will be allowed to leave the Gunners before Monday's transfer deadline.

Atletico have recently emerged as the favourites to sign the Uruguay international, who had previously been linked with a number of Italian teams.

According to AS, Torreira has already made the trip to Spain's capital, suggesting that an official announcement is imminent.

The report claims that the 24-year-old will undergo a medical on Saturday, leaving the La Liga side in a position to confirm a deal at a later date.

However, Atletico must first offload one of their current squad members to accommodate the arrival of Torreira.
