Jan Vertonghen: 'I considered joining Arsenal'

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has admitted that Arsenal tried to sign him this summer.

The 25-year-old joined Spurs from Ajax in July, but he has revealed that he chose White Hart Lane because they gave him "a good feeling".

"I chose Spurs because they gave me a good feeling. I spoke to Daniel Levy and I talked with Rafael van der Vaart. They invited me here and gave me the best feeling in the world," he told The People.

"From that moment on I said to myself, 'I want to play here'. Arsenal did try to sign me but I'd already made my decision that I wanted to play here."

Tottenham face Reading in the Premier League on Sunday.
