Ajax welcome French champions Paris Saint-Germain to the Amsterdam ArenA on Wednesday in their opening match of Group F in the Champions League.
The four-time winners have started their league campaign with a disappointing tally of nine points from five Eredivisie games.
PSG have also taken nine points from five matches in Ligue 1 following their 1-1 draw with Rennes on Saturday.
Laurent Blanc's side reached the quarter-finals of the competition last season before being knocked out by Chelsea on away goals.
Ajax exited the tournament at the group stage last season before being knocked out of the Europa League in the round of 32 by FC Salzburg.
Ajax manager Frank de Boer could select the same side that beat Heracles 2-1 at the weekend.
PSG will be without injured defender Serge Aurier, while centre-backs David Luiz and Thiago Silva could also miss out due to knocks.
