AFC Wimbledon striker George Oakley likely to miss start of season

AFC Wimbledon boss Neil Ardley has revealed that striker George Oakley could miss the start of the season through injury.

The 18-year-old suffered a hamstring problem during a training session on Friday.

"We've had some bad news with George picking up a hamstring injury when we were doing some work on crossing and finishing in training," Ardley told the club's official website.

"We are fearful that it could mean a few weeks out for George. He was ill for a while and it's been a stuttering start to pre-season in terms of his physicality. We hope that it's not too serious."

AFC Wimbledon return to pre-season action on Friday when they make the trip to Havant & Waterlooville.
