Neal Ardley rues tame defeat to Portsmouth

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley has expressed his frustration following Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth in League Two.

Pompey picked up their first home victory since Boxing Day thanks to Ryan Taylor's looping header from Daniel Alfei's cross seven minutes after half time.

"They're the home team and I can't remember them creating anything," Ardley told reporters. "I know they scored the goal and had a shot from long range in the first half.

"It was as comfortable as you can be away from home in one way, but without winning the game obviously. I told the players to be wary because the only way we could see them scoring was if we dropped into our box and a cross came in.

"I wish I didn't say things at half time because the opposite seems to happen. It's the sort of mistakes they don't make at the top. It leaves you chasing the game and that's hard."

Wimbledon have now lost three games in a row for the first time this season.
