League Two roundup: Burton Albion edge closer to division title

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday's League Two action as Burton Albion edge closer to claiming the division title after beating Luton Town 1-0.

Burton Albion have edged closed to claiming the League Two title and automatic promotion, as Matthew Palmer scored 11 minutes from time to seal a 1-0 victory over Luton Town.

Shrewsbury Town remain in second, despite comfortably beating Exeter City 4-0, courtesy of a brace from Jean-Louis Akpa-Akpro and strikes from Tyrone Barnett and James Collins.

Wycombe Wanderers edged towards securing an automatic promotion place as they defeated relegation-threatened Cheltenham Town 2-1.

Tranmere Rovers were unable to move out of the relegation zone after they failed to keep out a first-half Barry Corr effort, losing 1-0 to Southend United.

Ten-man York City managed to beat Hartlepool United 1-0, despite being a man down for the whole of the second half.

Bury remain in touch with the top three as they secured a 2-0 victory over Newport County, while Declan McManus scored a late winner as Stevenage beat 10-man Northampton Town 2-1.

Goals from Carl McHugh and Anthony O'Connor were enough to see off Mansfield Town, as Plymouth Argyle remain in the hunt for a playoff place.

Seamus Conneely rescued a point for Accrington Stanley in the 91st minute after his side trailed 2-1 to Cambridge United.

Both Carlisle United and Dagenham & Redbridge finished the game with 10 men, as Troy Archibald-Henville and Ayo Obileye were sent off for violent conduct in a win for the home side.

Morecambe comfortably saw off Portsmouth, thanks to a brace from Alex Kenyon and a late strike from Padraig Amond to win it 3-1.

AFC Wimbledon had a goal disallowed late on and had to settle for a point in their stalemate with Oxford United.
