Alessio Cerci: 'I wanted to join AC Milan in summer'

Cerci relieved by Milan move

Alessio Cerci has claimed that he wanted to join AC Milan before securing a move to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

The former Torino attacker will have a medical with Milan on Friday ahead of a loan move, and he admits that he is relieved to be returning to Serie A after making just nine appearances in the Spanish capital.

"It was what I wanted in the summer," the 27-year-old told reporters.

"It was important to go back to Italy, I'm happy. I spoke with [Filippo] Inzaghi and coming to Milan was my dream, even if I'm a little late. The Rossoneri are a very good team and I'll give my best."

Cerci will join Milan for a year-and-a-half while Fernando Torres is at Atletico.
