AC Milan suffer Valter Birsa blow

AC Milan have confirmed that midfielder Valter Birsa is expected to face a spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury.

The 27-year-old had to be replaced in the first half of his team's 2-2 draw with Livorno and will miss their upcoming fixtures with Ajax, Roma and Inter Milan.

"Birsa suffered a right thigh injury in last Saturday's match with Livorno," the club confirmed in a statement.

"A recovery time will be given in the coming days."

Milan host Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday.
