Inzaghi rues missed chances

AC Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi has said that his team failed to take their chances in today's 1-1 draw against Cesena.

The Rossoneri fell behind to an early goal from Davide Succi, before Adil Rami equalised soon after.

They ended up finishing the match with 10 men after Cristian Zapata's straight red card, but Inzaghi felt that his team created enough goalscoring opportunities to claim all three points.

"Unfortunately we had the game in hand and created so much in the first half, but when you work so hard and don't score in this heat you will pay eventually," he told Sky Sport Italia. "We played very well in the first half, then got stretched out and it was tough to win after going down to 10 men. We probably deserved to score a second.

"We thought the Cesena goal was offside, but it is an issue of centimetres. Again, I cannot complain about the team's performance and their goalkeeper made some crucial saves, but we started to run out of steam when we didn't make all that pressure count. The heat was terrible today, it felt like the height of summer.

"It's a shame, as this weekend Inter lost and Fiorentina drew, so the teams we are jostling for position with all slowed down."

Milan are currently sixth in the Serie A table.
