Filippo Inzaghi finds positives despite defeat to Genoa

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi says that he always knew there would be both highs and lows as he looks to rebuild the Serie A club.

AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi has insisted that there would always be highs and lows as he seeks to rebuild the club, with the Italian giants suffering their first away loss at the hands of Genoa this afternoon.

Pipo's men lost out in a slender 1-0 defeat at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with Luca Antonelli's headed goal giving Gian Piero Gasperini's men all three points.

"I knew there would be highs and lows in the reconstruction process," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia, according to Goal.com.

"Nobody can say we don't play and fight for every ball but today we were probably lacking that clinical edge in front of goal. That is football and at times this side needs this type of defeat to learn. Despite the defeat, I thought it was a good performance.

"After the break we tried everything and got a bit too stretched out, but didn't get the equaliser. Unfortunately at that moment when we need to make that step up, we are still lacking something. Next we have more important tests against Napoli and Roma."

The defeat now sees Milan sitting in seventh spot in the Serie A table.
