Massimiliano Allegri says that Alexandre Pato's goal against Malaga will help the AC Milan striker gain confidence.

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri believes that Alexandre Pato's goal against Malaga on Tuesday will help the striker "regain confidence".

The Brazilian, who has struggled with injury this season, scored his first goal of the 2012-13 campaign in the Rossoneri's 1-1 draw with the Spanish outfit in the Champions League.

"Pato had a good game and his goal will be beneficial for him," said Allegri. "It was important for us and it will be important for him, because he needs to regain confidence.

"He played the whole 90 minutes and that will do him good."

Milan are currently second in Group C with five points from four matches.
