Elliot Daly bags three in Viadana rout

London Wasps end their Challenge Cup Pool campaign with a resounding 64-17 win over Viadana at Adams Park this afternoon.

Elliot Daly recorded a hat-trick as London Wasps capped their final Challenge Cup game with a resounding 64-17 victory over Viadana at Adams Park.

The hosts, who had already sealed their passage to the quarter-final stage of the competition as Pool 4 winners, got the scoring underway after just two minutes of play.

Flanker Ashley Johnson crossed the try-line before Joe Carlisle fired the conversion to gift the Pests an early 7-0 lead.

Daly soon went over for his first of the afternoon to increase fears of a rout, but the Italian outfit responded with a try of their own through Nicola Sinitch, only for Juan Pablo Sanchez to miss the conversion.

The 21-year-old Daly bagged his third by the 26th minute, before Tom Varndell added his team's fifth as Dai Young's men secured a comfortable 31-5 half-time lead.

The visitors notched the first try of the second half through Mirko Monfrino on 61 minutes, as Wasps responded in style with William Helu, Joe Simpson and Taione Vea all getting their names on the scoresheet.

Carlisle then successfully converted his own try before Varndell dived home for his second and his team's ninth to dispatch Viadana, who finish bottom of the pool on two points.
