The visitors, who are still looking for their first win of the season, made a bright start to the match as Nathan Trevett opened the scoring with a try in the corner after three minutes before Seb Stegmann added a second.

Exeter turned it around before the break though, scoring four tries in 16 minutes to open up a commanding lead by half time, with Will Chudley and Matt Jess among the scorers.

Henry Slade continued the home side's dominance inside the opening minute of the second half before Thomas Waldrom powered over.

Waldrom added another late on, while two penalty tries allowed the hosts to extend their lead further, before Stegmann sprinted over for a late consolation.

The result moves Exeter up to second in the table, while Welsh remain bottom.
