Preview: Wrexham vs. Yeovil Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Tuesday's National League clash between Wrexham and Yeovil Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Wrexham will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the National League to four points with a victory over relegation-threatened Yeovil Town on Tuesday night at the Racecourse Ground.

The Red Dragons followed up an amazing afternoon against promotion rivals Notts County with a goalless draw at Barnet, whilst Yeovil's winless run continued on the weekend at Solihull Moors.

Wrexham players and supporters could be excused for being emotionally hungover after their sensational 3-2 victory over Notts County on Easter Monday, but the goalless draw at Barnet which followed could have serious consequences for their automatic promotion ambitions.

Saturday was the first time Phil Parkinson's men have failed to find the net in a National League match since November, with the Hive Stadium proving to be an unhappy hunting ground for the likes of Paul Mullin last time out.

The Red Dragons remain top of the fifth-tier standings despite dropping points in their last outing - albeit they are now just one point ahead of Macaulay Langstaff and company in a very close second place.

Parkinson's side are the only team in the entire National League that remain unbeaten at home so far this campaign - in fact, they have remarkably only dropped two points on home soil due to a 2-2 draw with Woking in February.

This Wrexham group will go down as one of non league's best-ever outfits, and their story under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney is worth all of the attention it is receiving.

Yeovil Town have enjoyed some fairytale times in the last decade - none more so than their voyage into the Championship during the 2013-14 season - but this campaign has been very difficult for all those associated with the cub.

A brace from Josh Kelly for Solihull Moors looked set to condemn Town to their 18th loss of the league season on Saturday, but it was second-half strikes from Zanda Siziba and Owen Bevan that completed an unlikely comeback for the visitors.

Despite a point in the West Midlands, the Glovers' winless spell in the fifth tier extended to nine matches - the type of run which is often associated with a club destined for the drop in any division.

Mark Cooper's charges lie 22nd in the National League standings, eight points away from safety with just three matches left to play - Yeovil know they will be playing regional football next term if they do not pull off a miracle in Wales on Tuesday night.

The Glovers have struggled massively on their travels so far this season, winning just one of their 21 matches away from their Somerset home of Huish Park, making the trip to the Racecourse Ground even more intimidating.

Team News

Wrexham will be without defender Callum McFadzean for the visit of Yeovil after the 29-year-old received a red card in the second half of the draw at Barnet last time out, meaning Parkinson will have to make a change in the left-back department.

Ex-Manchester United and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster will once again stand in between the sticks for the Welsh outfit, making his sixth appearance since signing a short-term deal at the club to the end of the current campaign.

Yeovil defender Max Hunt is a doubt for Tuesday's match after being forced off early on during the draw at Solihull, with Andrew Oluwabori a possible replacement for him in the visitors' XI.

Reo Griffiths and goalscorer Siziba are both pushing for starts after inspiring the Glovers' comeback at Solihull, meaning Jordan Young and Jordan Maguire-Drew may have to settle for places on the bench.

Wrexham possible starting lineup:
Foster; Tozer, Forde, O'Connell, Cannon; Lee, Jones, O'Connor, Palmer; Mullin, Barnett

Yeovil Town possible starting lineup:
Buse; Reckford, Worthington, Hunt, Freckleton; Bevan, Cooper, Griffiths, Staunton; Sibiza, Minton

We say: Wrexham 3-1 Yeovil Town

Wrexham know they are three wins away from promotion to the Football League, and a home clash with Yeovil is almost a perfect opportunity to earn their 21st win at the Racecourse Ground this term.

The Glovers travel to Wales knowing nothing other than a historic win will save their fifth-tier status, but we see them being unable to resist the might of the Red Dragons on Tuesday night.
