Freiburg pile misery on Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg remain at the foot of the Bundesliga table as they go down 2-0 to Freiburg at home.

Wolfsburg are still searching for their first Bundesliga win at home this season after going down 2-0 to Freiburg in front of their own supporters on Saturday.

The home side started the game the brighter of the two teams, with Ricardo Rodriguez forcing a save from Oliver Baumann in the 12th minute.

Six minutes later Baumann kept out a Ferhan Hasani header from a Bas Dost cross, before Jonathan Schmid came close for the visitors with a shot from inside the 18-yard box.

Wolfsburg continued to create the better chances, but conceded five minutes from the half-time interval.

Naldo brought down Erik Jendrisek inside his own penalty box, and Daniel Caligiuri made no mistake in converting the spot kick.

Caligiuri went close to doubling Freiburg's advantage three minutes into the second half, but his attempt was saved by Diego Benaglio.

Ivica Olic then shot just wide of the mark for the Wolfsburg before Caligiuri was denied by the crossbar on 64 minutes.

The visitors eventually found the target for the second time on Saturday in the 84th minute, when Julian Schuster shot home after being released by Schmid.
