Conference Premier roundup: Barnet continue strong start to season

Sports Mole rounds up all of the action from the 11 games in the Conference Premier on Tuesday night.

Barnet continued their strong start to the season in the Conference Premier by claiming a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.

John Akinde and Charlie MacDonald found the back of the net in the first half to send Barnet on the way to a second win in the space of four days.

Gateshead were also able to join Barnet on six points as the visitors eased to a 3-0 triumph over Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

Torquay United recovered from a defeat to Gateshead on the opening day of the season by securing a comfortable 3-0 win against Welling United.

Macclesfield Town got the better of AFC Telford in a five-goal thriller as Waide Fairhurst's brace helped them claim a 3-2 victory to keep them in touch with the early leaders.

Jordan Burrow and Conner Robinson were the heroes for Lincoln City in a 2-1 victory over Altrincham, who have lost both of their opening games.

It was a second loss in a week for Southport as Jamie Jackson's late strike confirmed a 3-1 success for Halifax Town, while Alfreton Town were also on the receiving end of another loss as Kidderminster Harriers strolled to a 3-0 win.

Forest Green Rovers were forced to withstand a late spell of pressure from Chester on their way to a 2-1 win at The New Lawn.

Braintree Town recovered from Saturday's disappointment against Macclesfield in style as defender Alan Massey scored twice in a 3-0 win over Dover.

Grimsby Town played out a second successive goalless draw as they settled for a point against Nuneaton Town, while Giuseppe Sole came off the bench to score a late equaliser as Woking held Dartford to a 1-1 draw.
