Burnley downed by own goal as Swansea City steal 1-0 away win

Burnley fall foul to a bizarre second-half own goal as Swansea City steal a slender 1-0 victory over Sean Dyche's men at Turf Moor in the Premier League.

Burnley were thwarted by a bizarre own goal as they fell to a 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Swansea City in the Premier League this afternoon.

Sean Dyche's men were the first to offer something in attack, with George Boyd finding space to force a shot which was fired straight at a grateful Fabianski.

Ashley Barnes should have put a controversial week behind him when he was presented with a chance from close range, only for Fabianski to deny the striker at his bottom-left corner.

Jonjo Shelvey got himself into the contest as his pass picked out Wayne Routledge, who shot wide to the right without troubling Burnley stopper Tom Heaton.

The Clarets moved down the other end moments later and Danny Ings might have done a little better having headed wide from a Kieran Trippier corner.

Fabianski was called into action yet again on the 30-minute mark and pulled off another impressive save to deny Michael Kightly following a mazy run into the box.

Kightly almost produced some fireworks early in the second period when he robbed Kyle Naughton before seeing his shot saved down low.

Barnes passed up another decent opportunity in the 60th minute following an accurate cross from Trippier, this time scuffing wide from the centre of the Swansea box.

Dyche's men were dealt a major blow against the run of play in the 64th minute, when Trippier could not get out of the way of Heaton's save, leaving the ball to deflect in and give the Swans the lead.

Garry Monk's charges almost went two ahead just a few minutes later through Jack Cork, but Heaton did well to keep out the midfielder's header in the centre of goal.

Trippier did his best to rectify the earlier mix up when he turned in a set piece for Jason Shackell, but the defender saw his header fly wide from six yards out.

Swansea keeper Fabianksi continued to show his worth and he pulled off another fine save to deny Barnes down at this bottom corner, before returning again to keep out an effort from Sam Vokes and earn his side an away win.
