Stuttgart, Werder Bremen share the spoils

Anthony Ujah cancels out a first-half strike from Lukas Rupp as Werder Bremen come from behind to draw 1-1 with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Bundesliga strugglers Stuttgart and Werder Bremen have shared the points in a 1-1 draw in Sunday's clash at the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

The first real chance of the match arrived in the 15th minute when Stuttgart defender Timo Baumgartl met a corner from the right, but his header just missed the far post.

The hosts were ahead in the 33rd minute, however, when Lukas Rupp found the back of the net after an excellent pass from Filip Kostic.

Stuttgart remained the team in the ascendancy in the second period, but clear chances were few and far between.

It was the visitors that scored the game's all-important second goal, however, Anthony Ujah converting from close range to leave the score at 1-1 with 20 minutes left.

Bremen had a golden chance to win the game in the 85th minute, but Levin Oztunali could only rattle the crossbar from inside the box, before Felix Wiedwald kept out Timo Werner at the other end.

The result has left Stuttgart in 17th position in the table, while the visitors remain 15th.
