Preview: Paris Saint-Germain vs. Caen

Sports Mole takes a closer look at both sides ahead of Saturday's Ligue 1 clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Caen.

A dramatic Ligue 1 title race continues this weekend as defending champions Paris Saint-Germain host Caen on Saturday afternoon.

Laurent Blanc's side have faced criticism on a weekly basis throughout the season, but they remain in a good position to lift the title once again with 14 league games remaining.

Lyon, who do not face Lorient until Sunday night, could fall from the top of the table to third place if PSG are victorious and Marseille manage to beat Reims on Friday evening.

The prospect of piling pressure on their rivals should be enough to motivate Blanc's men, and they head into the match full of confidence after beating Nantes in midweek to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

Blanc's decision to rest a number of his key players against Nantes was vindicated, and he will hand recalls to the refreshed, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Salvatore Sirigu, Thiago Silva and Blaise Matuidi.

However, Yohan Cabaye's reward for a goal and a fine performance should see him keep his place in the side ahead of a busy week for PSG.

Chelsea arrive in the French capital on Tuesday for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, and Blanc will be desperate to avoid injuries, despite not being in the position to leave out key players on what could be a key weekend in Ligue 1.

The form table suggests that PSG will be pushed all the way by the in-form Caen, who have won their last four league games to pull away from the relegation zone.

After being tipped for relegation by many, Patrice Garande's side are now looking up, and they could be seven points clear of the bottom three if they claim a shock win against the champions.
