Manchester United 'agree to pay £100k-a-week of Odion Ighalo wages'

Manchester United reportedly agree to pay £100,000-a-week of Odion Ighalo's wages in addition to a loan fee of £4m to secure his signature from Shanghai Shenhua.

Manchester United will reportedly pay £100,000-a-week in wages for Odion Ighalo as part of the loan deal to bring him to the club from Shanghai Shenhua.

The Red Devils look set to end their exhaustive pursuit of a new striker before tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, having agreed terms with the Chinese Super League outfit.

The likes of Joshua King, Edinson Cavani and Danny Ings were among the names linked to Old Trafford during their late search for a replacement to Marcus Rashford, whose injury has left Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as the only senior striking options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's disposal.

The Daily Mail reports that United have now agreed to pay a £4m loan fee for Ighalo in addition to subsidising one third of his £300,000-a-week wages.

United will also have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season should the 30-year-old impress during the remainder of the campaign.

Ighalo has past experience of English football, having played for Watford from 2014 to 2017, scoring 39 goals in 99 appearances ahead of his move to China.
