Yaya Toure reflects on Barcelona's 2009 Champions League success

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure says that lifting the Champions League trophy with Barcelona is one of the "most important" moments of his career to date.

Yaya Toure has admitted that winning the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009 was one of the "most important" moments of his career.

The Ivorian, who left Barca for Manchester City in the summer of 2010, was a member of the depleted Catalan side, under the management of Pep Guardiola, that defeated Manchester United 2-0 inside Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

Despite having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup and League Cup with City, Toure has confessed that few triumphs have come close to that night in Italy.

"In the Champions League [against United] where we were able to play and defend in front of [two of] the top class strikers in the world [in Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney]," he told Nissan. "But lifting the trophy [with Barcelona] was the most important. It was the first time I was able to touch this trophy."

Toure is suspended for City's must-win group encounter against Roma tomorrow evening.
